Hi, I’m Deanna.
You may be wondering about the name of my blog, (or cringing at the bad joke, but that’s what makes it good right?)
If you’re not one for bird facts, the Kiwi bird is one that cannot fly. Neither can human Kiwis, (the colloquial name for New Zealanders) but with the help of air travel – a flying Kiwi is born!
Dee; that’s my nickname. It’s a lot easier to remember than Deanna, and less likely to be mispronounced, so that’s mainly what I go by.
Who Am I?
I’ve lived most of my life in the North Island of New Zealand, and recently went on exchange and did my senior year of high school in Northern California, living with a family for a year. I’m nineteen years old, my passions are theatre, art and travel, and I love me some good Mexican food (which sadly, New Zealand is slacking in.)
Why A Blog?
People always ask me how I can afford to travel so much, and my answer always surprises them; it’s not as expensive as you think. I soon realised that most people think only those who have super well-paid jobs and/or rich family members can afford to travel. But I am your 40-hours-a-week-on-minimum-wage proof that if you are committed to saving, and have no one financially dependent on you (granted, funding a family vacay is a lot harder,) your travel dreams can become a reality!
Where Have I Been?
I have travelled to some incredibly beautiful places, some of my favourites being; Bali, Australia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, and New York.
With many more exciting trips planned for my future, I thought it made sense to put all of my tips, tricks, and experiences on to one easy to read website, so that you too can find out how to become a seasoned traveller on the cheap!
